Orgiva - Las Alpajurras

Cortjo de Rosa is the perfect self catering accommodation for Orgiva and Las Alpujarras.

Far enough out of the town of Orgiva to feel the magic of the mountain setting (Sierra Nevada, Sierra de Lujar and Sierra Contravesia have wonderful walking), yet close enough for a leisurely stroll to the shops & tavernas.

Orgiva is in an enviable position to visit both the traditional mountain villages & the pleasures of the Costa Tropical and boasts a weekly market (on Thursdays), two delightful village squares and traditional tapas and Alpajurran specialities from the local bars and restaurants. The wealth of local produce makes self catering a joy, Orgiva being a fertile fruit and vegetable growing region not to mention the superb Alpujarran serrano ham.

Trevelez - Las Alpajurras

Las Alpujarras is a magical area where the slow pace of life and peacefulness soon engender a real sense of relaxation. Thus when you get here you may feel less inclined to do things. However if you should feel active there are lots of places to visit, beautiful walks from the door and much to see and do.

The Sierra Nevada Mountains.

The High Sierras including Mulhacen, the highest peak in Western Europe, are the backdrop to Orgiva and the Alpujarras. This magical area of high villages, peaks and trails is fantastic for walking,  hikeing, mountain biking and the more casual holiday makers who just want to explore. The Poqueira Gorge with the pretty villages of Pampaneira, Bubion and Capileira is easily reachable by the Alsina bus (Alsa.es) or by car. The Sierra Nevada National Park also run a summer bus beyond where you can drive, to the foot of Mulhacen. Trevelez is the home of the famous air cured ‘Jamon Serrano‘ -or Serrano Ham and is claimed as the highest village in Spain. Further east is Pitres, a Roman bridge and further mountain villages to explore by bike car or walking or hikeing.

The Costa Tropical

Only an hours drive from Orgiva, this is the tropical coast blessed by a climate that allows bananas and sugar cane plantations. It is a fascinating stretch of small bays cliffs, villages and towns. Motril is the city at its centre. Nearby are SalobrenaAlmunecar with its water park and Nerja with its caves. Salobrena has a castle atop its small mountain and is only half an hour away. Along with picturesque La Herradura these resorts offer sailing, wind surfing, and canoeing.
We also recomend Castell de Ferro which can be reached with a very scenic drive through the Lujar mountains. Overall the Costa Tropical is one of the least developed stretches of Spanish Coast and is easily reached from our self catering accommodation.

Granada

The fantastic city of Granada with its Alhambra is described in guide books as the must see of the Andalucian cities, even trumping Seville and Cordoba. The Alhambra is a castle, palace and garden and reputedly one of the foremost monuments in Europe. Its beauty, variety and history make it a spectacular visit. There are excellent bus services from Orgiva to Granada which makes a wonderful day out.
